- 1 Med Savoy Cabbage
- 1 Sm Onion
- 2 Cloves Garlic
- 2 Whole Green Chilies or 2 Whole Red Chilies
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 2 tsp Olive Oil
- - - Salt to Taste
- 1 tbsp Coconut Grated (optional)
- Cut cabbage very fine. Or you can use a food processor. Chop cabbage into big chunks. Put them in the processor in batches and pulse. Do not use the grind option or you will end up getting cabbage paste! This is the most important step for this easy recipe. Finely chop green chillies (if using) and the onion.
- Take oil in a non stick pan and when the oil is hot, add mustard seeds. When the seeds start spluttering, add in whole red chillies if desired, and then the finely chopped cabbage, green chillies and onion. Saute it for about 2 to 3 minutes. Add salt, turmeric and coconut pd. and mix well. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes on very low setting. Uncover, mix well and serve. This is a very delicate recipe, so take care not to burn or over cook the cabbage. It should be just about rightly cooked. Serve with rice and a curry dish.
